Pool Party

Pool Party explores the relationship between a site, activity, and graphic representation. The results are an axonometric drawing and a section perspective. The pool scene created took into account an activity/scene, a Fourth of July Barbeque, along with a graphical precedent, Pool with Two Figures by David Hockney.
The pool scene created is a pool located in Los Angeles featuring a pool for people and dogs. Puppywood is a pool with equal programs for dog and human users. Two buildings display as the center where one is for people and the other is for dogs. Attached to the buildings are twinning ring lap pools for the users and at the top are rooftop pools. Extending off of these two buildings are the two main pools, where interaction is welcome, but once again, one is dedicated to dogs and the other to humans.
Inspiration for the graphic representation of the water was taken from different pieces of Hockney. Two of his water representational methods were used. The colors palette for the illustrations are the result of pulling colors that Hockney used in his work.
The Fourth of July barbeque scene was brought to the pool scene in a couple of different ways. The first was having the people and dogs all dressed in red, white, and blue as well as placing American flags throughout. Finally, when creating the scene special attention was brought to incorporating grassy areas for picnics, lounging, and other activities.
